Jim Mitchem

Marriage Family Therapist, LMFT, Certified EMDR Therapist

Jim is a Marriage and Family Therapist and the owner of Warrior’s Cry Counseling Services, specializing in trauma treatment for individuals and couples. His more than 20 years of experience as a pastoral counselor, military chaplain, and therapist have given him a unique perspective on post-traumatic stress, acute stress, anxiety, depression, and the effects of sexual and physical abuse. A retired Army veteran, Jim’s career began in the '90s as an enlisted intelligence Soldier at Fort Bragg. He later became an Army Chaplain in 2009 and has served on multiple combat deployments with both special operations and conventional forces beginning in Desert Storm. This background gives him an intimate understanding of the complexities of trauma and a profound respect for confidentiality. Jim also has a strong connection to the first responder community, having served as an EMT-I and Rescue Technician alongside his paramedic wife. Jim's therapeutic approach focuses on empowering clients to address their personal challenges, build healthier relationships, and activate their internal healing process. He is a Certified EMDR Therapist, an EMDR Approved Consultant, and a Level III-trained EFT Therapist. Jim's journey from Chaplain to therapist has taught him that spirituality is a powerful part of the healing process, and he is fully equipped to integrate it into therapy at a client's request.
