Dr. Diego F. Hernandez, Psy.D. Florida Licensed Clinical Psychologist | Human Performance Consultant | Trauma Researcher | Executive Coach Dr. Diego F. Hernandez—widely known as “Doc Diego”—is a nationally recognized clinical psychologist, trauma researcher, and executive performance consultant with over 25 years of experience spanning military mental health, trauma therapy, human performance, and leadership coaching. The son and grandson of U.S. military veterans, his work is deeply informed by intergenerational service, sacrifice, and resilience. Professional Background & Leadership Dr. Hernandez served as the Clinical Director of Military Trauma and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Research at the University of South Florida (USF), where he co-led groundbreaking research contributing to ART’s designation as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD by SAMHSA. He formerly served as a research consultant with the Mayo Clinic, helping to develop trauma-informed protocols for medical distress, complicated grief, and cancer-related symptoms. With more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Hernandez has trained hundreds of clinicians across the U.S. and the U.K., collaborating with the U.S. Army, British Armed Forces, and hospice and mental health networks. He is a lead clinical investigator and contributing member of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Health Initiatives Network, where he supports collaborative research advancing care for SOF warriors and their families. His approach integrates clinical psychology with neurophysiology, emphasizing narrative healing, emotional regulation, and physiological adaptability for those in high-performance and high-risk environments. His coaching combines neuroscience, trauma science, and embodied leadership to develop clarity, composure, and strategic insight under pressure. His clinical and coaching toolkit includes mindfulness-based interventions, equine-assisted psychotherapy (Eagala-certified), psychedelic-assisted therapies (MAPS MDMA, psilocybin, ketamine), EMDR, Emotionally Focused Individual and Couples Therapy, Master ART Therapist, Narrative Therapy and somatic awareness practices.
